5. CONCLUSION
This paper gives an overview of the ANCHOR concept, a captain assistance system that implements multiple approaches to assist captains entering or leaving harbors. It is a portable, easy-to-install additional system for pilots. It helps finding the shortest and securest path to the destination of a ship using a well-known routing algorithm. Due to its integration of local sensors, the system is able to consider environmental influences on the vessels. The System predicts future ship positions based on the data delivered by the sensor network, AIS and the ANCHOR ship modules. All these information is feed to the collision warning algorithm which issues according warnings, if a situation becomes dangerous. ANCHOR not only supports pilots, it also supports harbor authorities. Its integrated speed limit surveillance identifies velocity offenders. The included database provides a login protected archive accessible via internet. All performed system tests showed respectable results which together with the demonstrations showed the potential of ANCHOR. The project ended with the demonstration held during June 2016.
