i) The Buddon Lighthoues on the Tay estuary was moved in 1884 because of sand encroachment upon its site. The movement of the lighthouse to a new site 63 m away took 1 month and involved a huge iron strap being placed around the building, and large amounts of timber, lubricants and manual labour. The cost was just £285 (the equivaient of 100 times the cost today) most of which was for the workmen's wages. The lighthouse is still in place today but is no longer used
