4. Ignition delay time measurements
4.1. 2-Butanone ignition delay times
A stoichiometric (U = 1) mixture of 2-butanone (0.5%), oxygen
(2.75%), and argon (96.75%) was prepared and tested for ignition
delay time measurements over 1100–1400 K and pressures of
3 atm and 6.5 atm. Ignition delay times are measured using the
pressure time history as well as the OH absorption techniques.
Both methods give very similar ignition delay times; Fig. 2 shows
a sample trace of 2-butanone/O2/Ar mixture at 1240 K and
3.02 atm. The measured ignition delay times are compared with
the predictions of Serinyel et al. [1] mechanism and are shown in
Fig. 3. A detailed uncertainty analysis is performed and an uncertainty
of ±20% is estimated for the ignition delay times reported
in this work.
