Lesson VOC 24
Task: Match product colors.
Prerequisites: COG 21, SEN 12, SEN 13
Concept: This activity serves to give function to the educational exercise of matching colors (see prerequisite COG 21). Combining this ability with the skill to pick up ob¬jects (prerequisites SEN 12 and SEN 13), the student is asked to organize a series of items into bins where items are separated by color.
Behavioral Objective: When requested to match a product by color, the student will place the items into a bin, from a choice of four bins, based on the color sample at¬tached above the bin to a 9596 accuracy level using at least 20 items for 20 trials.
Materials: Poker chips or similar materials of various colors; items that might relate to a work project such as different colored ribbons, wrapping pap, Or cloth; and bins capable of holding the products, with a place to set a sample above the bin.
Task Analysis:
1. Using the poker chips, review with the student the basic ability to match colors.
2. Set up two bins, placing a sample of the target color above each bin. Guide the student in placing the items by color into the appropriate bin.
3. Continue Step 2, adding a third bin and a third color.
4. Continue Step 3, adding a fourth bin and color.
5. Gradually reduce physical assistance until only gestural and step-by-step verbal cues arc needed.
6. Reduce all guidance until just the total-task verbal request is needed
