In this study, polyaniline coating was successfully synthesized
on CS/ZnCo electrode, applying cyclic voltammetry technique.
Homogenous and adherent polyaniline film was produced from
0.20 M aniline containing 0.20 M sodium tartrate solution. It was
found that the passivation of ZnCo alloy surface was necessary for
homogenous polymer film synthesis prior to monomer oxidation
and film growth. The corrosion performance of bare CS electrode
was compared with PANI coated CS/ZnCo and CS/ZnCo electrodes.
The single ZnCo alloy plating exhibited significant physical barrier
behaviour on carbon steel. PANI coating provided an increase in corrosion
resistance of CS/ZnCo electrode. The corrosion performance
of CS/ZnCo/PANI electrode improved the formation of ZnCo oxide
layers and the reduction of PANI coating, by the catalytic behaviour
of PANI film, in time..
