abstract
heavy metals,copper,cadmium,and lead are long trem hazardous that have most severely affected the environment because of their high toxicity, accumulation and retention in human body.The removal of these heavy metals form aqueous solution was studied by comparing the biosorbents:Moringa Oleifera shell and seed with Chitosan.The sorption was studied in batch experiments by varying biosorbent dosage,contact time,metal concentration at isothermal temperature (13 c)and pH 4-5.The efficiency of heavy metals adsorption was studies by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer.The comparing study of the adsorption in different heavy metals was found that Pb(ll) was very fast uptake by seed and chitosan more than shell in 2-5 min of contact time.Seed and shell can adsorb Pb(ll) more than cd(ll) and Cu(ll) respecticely and seed takes less time to equilibrium compared with shell and chitosan for this adsorption.Chitosan can adsorb Pb(ll) and Cu(ll) more thenCd(ll) and still higher adsorption capability.The Moringa Oleifera seed and shell is low cost and high potential suitable biosorbent for heavy metals adsorption in batch system and it is possible to develop to use in continuous system.
