Qualitative data were also collected related to the research questions and supported
the quantitative results. For example, for RQ2 a young newspaper reporter
noted that Twitter made him a better sports journalist because “it, allows me to stay
on top of rapidly rising trends in sports coverage.” An older sports journalist was
more interested in Twitter’s ability to promote, specifically, it “allows me not only
to link to stories other than my own, but also to read links that help generate ideas.”
