taxonomies also help to bridge user needs with network resources more effectively. As
taxonomies aim to connect users to resources through the navigational process of
browsing structured hierarchies, serendipitous discovery is also made possible.
Finally, the structured nature of taxonomy also means that resources are located
within contexts (categories). This not only facilitates higher precision category-based
keyword searches by reducing ambiguity, but also helps to clarify concepts for users.
Despite solutions offered by advanced technologies and the potential of connectivity in
digital networks, the major part of the endeavour in providing seamless access to
cultural heritage networks may still lie in the intellectual efforts to conceptualise,
develop and build them
