There are no records of similar studies investigating the genetic variation in gerbera by Shannon’s index.
Meanwhile, in a study conducted by Reisch et al. (2005) in 10 populations of Primula farinosa using 9 RAPD primers (96 polymorphic) found values of H0 ranging from 0.18 to 0.26, similar to those found in gerbera.
Petros et al. (2007) found a Shannon’s genetic variability index that is highly important (H0 = 0.88) and when analyzing 370 individual plants representing 37 populations of Guizotia abyssinica (Asteraceae) harvested from the diversity center of the species by ISRR molecular markers.
Working with the same species mentioned above, Geleta et al. (2007) have analyzed 70 populations and have found smaller values for the afore mentioned index (H0 = 0.43).
