The memory of our excursions to the world of fairies would remain fresh in our minds for the days to come. Everyone had been through a lot, and it wasn’t the kind of thing any of us could just get over. Still, we were pressed to keep moving on with our lives. Being so close to graduation, there wasn’t anything else we could do. The world was forcing us to move on with our lives.
Of course, it was different for Gan, who didn’t really have any earthly obligations to attend to. He also arguably went through the least trauma. Apparently the fairies don’t torture their own kind. Our fairy friend had acted strangely when we rescued him from Puck, but it wasn’t long before he was back to his usual, mischievous self. However, since I was bogged down with finishing up all my projects for class there was less time for us to have our little possession adventures. I’m not sure what he did in his free time. I reasoned that he would be with Gille or Darrig.
I didn’t see Taylor as much either. Even Evan would keep himself holed up in the library to finish up everything he had been putting off. Ever since he got the job in Orkney it was hard for him to care about school anymore. Tonight though, he sent me a text saying that he wanted to talk once he got back. I welcomed the chance to spend some quality time with him, although judging by his tone something serious must be on his mind.
Once I got out of class and ate a quick dinner I came home, seeing that Evan had arrived before I did. Gan was nowhere in sight, so it was just the two of us. “What’s up?” I asked. He was sitting on his bed and patted a spot beside him, signaling for me to sit with him. I did so and he turned to me, taking a few breaths before beginning.
“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking,” he started. “Ever since that time you entered my body, I…” he stopped, placing his hand on his chin on his fist. “I don’t know how to say this…”
“Take your time,” I said.
His eyes were gleaming. “When you were with me, I felt all of your feelings for me, just surging into my mind. For the first time I really got to understand it. And it… It felt good.”
“What are you saying?” I asked, narrowing my eyes in disbelief.
“This is all confusing for me, and it’s been bugging me ever since,” he said, shaking his head. “But I want you to do it again.”
Now I was gawking at him. “Huh?” was all I could utter.
“Come on, man, don’t make me say it out loud,” he said, his cheeks turning red.
“Are you sure this is you?” I asked uneasily.
Evan gave an exasperated sigh. “When I was throwing up after that frat party freshman year I also pissed myself a little after you had brought me back to our room. This is something I’ve only ever told you.”
