Electoral murders
On 12 January 1992, a political canvasser for a Samakkhi Tham Party candidate in Nong Khai Province was murdered. Five days later, an New Aspiration Party canvasser was shot dead in Pichit. A third killing occurred on 20 January, when a Chart Thai supporter died in Saraburi. On 22 January, a canvasser for STP met with a similar fate in Uttaradit, and on the same day a Chart Thai canvasser was killed in Rayong. On 5 February, a village headman who had previously acted as a canvasser for a politician in Chon Buri was shot dead, as was another political canvasser in Chachoengsao province the next day. He had been a supporter of the deputy leader of STP, Dr Arthit Urairat, and had reportedly been quarrelling with another political faction that supported the local NAP candidate.
