Our laboratory has also shown
that both aromatase immunoreactive putative glial cells and tyrosine
hydroxylase positive neuronal processes are found in very close
proximity to AVT neurons in the wrasse preoptic area (Fig. 5, [53]),
suggesting the possibility of both estrogenic and dopaminergic
influences on AVT neuron function. Although not yet examined in
wrasses, very large neurons in the preoptic area of Atlantic croaker
express estrogen receptor beta B (ERb) mRNA [33].
