In our research interviews conducted with industry experts, the dual stack transition technique came out as an indisputable winner among all other transition techniques. This technique offers a flexible way to transition to IPv6. Dual stack is the ideal technique to maintain connectivity with IPv4 only sites while providing IPv6 capabilities as well. On a dual stack device, the IPv4 protocol stack can be removed at any time [14]. Dual stack routers also cater to other transition mechanisms such as tunneling that require a dual stack end point.
