2.8 Cutting experiments
The quasi-static speed of cutting corn stalk was
controlled at 4 mm⋅s−1 by the crosshead movement of the
UTM and the cutting angle is 12°. For each type of saw
blade, 12 corn stalks (no statistical differences at 0.05
level in the cross sectional area) were cut in the same
condition for each saw blade. The force and the displacement
were recorded automatically at interval of
1/15 second. The fixing devices for the corn stalk and the
saw blade are showed in Fig. 12.
