But regardless of the type of value stream you encounter in a transactional setting, the end result is the same. Employees within the value stream communicate with each other about a wide variety of things. They communicate with supervisors and managers about defects, instructions and the lack thereof, as well as the priority of work before them. These employees also communicate with people and systems outside of the value stream on a regular basis in order to complete their work. These employees often work according to a schedule and have the work “rescheduled” in exactly the same way that operators on a manufacturing floor do; “hot orders” exist even in a transactional world.
