Changes in body size and shape because of pregnancy are often viewed negatively by women,causing body image dissatisfaction.In fact,Gjerdingen et al.found that women's body image dissatisfaction increased over the first 9 months postpartum,and such dissatisfaction was correlatee with higher weight,eating abnormamalities,poorer mental health and not breastfeeding.the consequences of negative postpartum body image include low self-esteem and emotional distress.In addition,poor body image can lead to the initiation or resumption of unhealthy behaviors .For example,levine ,Marcus,Kalarchian,Houck ,and Cheng (2010)found that women's weight concern during the postpartum period increased the likelihood of smoking relapse.
