What’s Accidental Sampling?
Accidental sampling or Convenience sampling is a type of non-probability research.
A sample population selection is based on the convenience for researcher.
Accidental sampling method is for the population is just too large that it is impossible to include every individual.
Method
Choose people and Volunteer who are available around the area.
Example
The research about a problem of using the bus service. The researcher will select a sample of people who take the bus at the bus stop.
Advantage
This method is extremely fast, easy data collection, readily available, and cost effective.
Disadvantage
The researcher cannot control how well the characteristics of the sample (gender, age, race, education, etc.) match the characteristics of the larger population. The sample is not representative of the population.
The findings from this sample are less definitive, biased results.
