CONCLUSION
The additional clinical competencies for nurses and physicians identified by the experts illustrate a more comprehensive clinical competency tool that can be used when educating profession als about initial management of patients experiencing SWD or delirium The final tool includes the addition of family-focused care, involvement of ancillary services, and nurses gathering more information to have more active role in the physician's differential diagnosis. This tool could be used in interprofessional education experiences, either in academic or hospital settings to educate both pre- or post-licensure physicians and nurses collectively. The number of essential clinical competencies expected of health care providers caring for patients experiencing SWD and delirium by the expert panel illustrates the complexity of their care and necessity for continued education.
