Let me start by saying that I can be considered a hotel snob. My daughter and I traveled to Oskaloosa for a softball tournament. Our team registered late for the tournament so it was " every man for himself" when it cam to booking a room. I really didn't want to have to drive too far from the fields and was able to book at the Comfort Inn.
I have very low expectations upon arriving. I can tell you that I was honestly surprised. The lobby is nicely decorated and inviting. They have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cookies and fresh fruit available at all times in the lobby. The person at the front desk that checked us in was very welcoming. She treated us as though we were friends or family she hadn't seen in a while.
Since it was just my daughter and I, we shared a room with a queen bed. We were happy to find that there was a recliner, desk with chair, a dorm size refrigerator and a microwave in the room. The room itself was very clean. There was a very strong sent of a room deodorizer that caused my allergies to act up but we opened the window and that cleared out. The room was a little loud. We used rolled up towels under the door and on the sides to help block some of the sounds from the hallway. The bed was fairly comfortable and the choice of pillows was nice.
Breakfast in the morning was what you would expect. There was plenty of food even though the hotel was fully booked and the attendant was diligent in keeping everything fully stocked. They even open breakfast early due to a team having to leave early to be at the fields for an early game.
While we were gone housekeeping had come in and cleaned the room. I was impressed. They did a great job in a rather short period of time.
All things considered, we had a nice stay and as the person who books rooms for our team I will be looking to book here for our next return to Oskaloosa.
