The healthy mature leaves of camara were collected from Bangalore and its surrounding region, India. The leaves were cut into small pieces, dried at 40 Cand powdered. One hundred gram of leaf powder was sequentially extracted with a series of sol- vents of increasing polarity viz., hexane, ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol in a Soxhlet apparatus. The solvent was evapo- rated in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in a known volume of methanol. This solution was screened for insecticidal activity through for fumigant toxicity (Fig. 1)
