About the project
“If you will ever be asked where you went to school, please tell them that you graduated from a cozy little school in rural area named KlaiKangwon” is the royal guidance. KlaiKangwon School provides the whole secondary level curriculum via satellite transmission. Not only does the long distance education open the door for students in remote areas to access schooling of equivalent quality to that of standardized institutes, but it is also a mean to exchange useful information for effective educational improvement. The parent station for live telecasts and learning channels is situated in PrachuapKhiri Khan Province.
Project administration
The school offers kindergarten to upper secondary level of education, as well as short-term vocational courses. The Distance Learning Foundation broadcasts via satellite around the clock through 6 learning channels, namely Channel 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16. Besides, there is 1 more channel broadcasting tv programs in English to 4 neighboring countries including Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Vietnam which have been granted materials for long distance learning from His Majesty the King.
Social benefits
The achievement of the distance learning project via satellite helps overcome the educational inequity among the underprivileged. In response to His Majesty’s advocacy of lifelong learning, sufficiency economy and training through modern technology, the telecasts primarily aim to foster morality and spiritual uplift, like the royal intention “Do good deeds and be benevolence. Learn with all your intellectual ability to be able to support yourself no matter what your education level is.”
