The kinesthetic
stimulation consisted of passive exercise (flexion
and extension) of upper and lower limbs, one
limb at a time and up to 3 times at each articulation
(wrist, elbow, ankle, and knee). This protocol is
different from many of the infant massage studies conducted in older and healthier infants who require
frequent repositioning (moving from prone to supine
and back to prone) during the kinesthetic (passive
range of motion) activity phase
