Abstract
Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin condition that is
estimated to affect up to 2.2% of the population. Lesions may
be persistent or chronic, or undergo periods of exacerbation
and remission. Psoriasis may present in a variety of different
ways and can have varying severity. Assessment of the severity
of psoriasis is important at diagnosis, as well as at each
follow-up appointment to determine whether treatment has
been successful. In this article we will discuss the different
presentations of psoriasis and approaches to the management
of adults with each type of psoriasis, as well as indications for
referral to specialist treatment services.
