the best of both worlds? The offline map is cached from Google Maps, and you don’t need an internet connection to use the GPS. The result: an offline map that shows your location. It doesn’t do directions, but for the 600 places in its database, the pins make it easier to find where places are. Each place comes with a standard set of information: name, address, phone, and a paragraph’s worth of description.
Turn on the GPS and your location dot appears with the angle the phone is facing – a nifty little feature that goes a step beyond the required. It’s great if you haven’t yet sprung for a local SIM card, or if you’re worried about going your data plan.
