Conclusions
OHRQoL was generally improved from pre-treatment to baseline and to the 1- to 5-year follow-up examination. There was a non-significant improvement in OHIP-49 score from baseline to follow-up for participants without complications and a significant increase
in OHIP-49 score for participants with complications.
The problems with the partial RDPs at the pre-treatment disappeared after treatment but reappeared at the 1- to 5-year follow-up. The most frequent objective complications were ill-fitting RDPs and inflammation of the oral mucosa. Treatment with RDPs and subsequent functional complications observed after treatment had thus an impact on the OHRQoL. This should be considered when informing patients about what can be expected from treatment with RDPs.
