After releasing the chart-topping songs “Winter Games,” “Give Me Love,” “Falling in Love” and “Stay Here,” South Korean boy band 2PM recently launched their third Japanese language album, Genesis of 2PM.
The album has been made available in three different versions. The regular version, which has been released in Thailand, consists of 13 tracks. Version A adds a DVD with a video for “Winter Games” and behind the scenes footage of the group making the album. Version B includes solo songs by the group members, performed live at a concert in Japan. The solo songs represent the individual styles of each group member. For example, rapper Taecyeon raps on the song “It’s Only You,” which also features the sweet voice of singer Yerin from the teen duo 15&.
With their winning combination of Japanese lyrics, K-pop music style, punchy beats and energetic rapping, 2PM have already topped the Japanese Oricon music chart with Genesis of 2PM.
Apart from their catchy tunes, 2PM are known for their muscular bodies. On Genesis of 2PM, they inject somemasculinity into the lyrics of Junho’s song, “I Want You,” which is about a man wanting to use his strength to protect a woman.
Fans of both K-pop and J-pop should grab a copy of one of the versions of Genesis of 2PM. It’s a release that will definitely put pop fans in a good mood. — HN
