Anaerobic granular sludge can produce extracellular polymeric
substances (EPS) against the change of different NH4 + –N concentration.
EPS of the anaerobic granular sludge were extracted by
high-speed centrifugation (Murthy and Novak, 1998). The polysaccharides
and proteins of the EPS were measured following the protocol
reported by McSwain et al. (2005).
