3.3 COMMON-EMITTER CHARACTERISTICS In general, the BJT may be configured in one of the three bi arrangements: common- base, common-emitter, and common-collector. However, as you will see in the following chapters, common-emitter is the most widely used and frequently encountered configuration of the three bias arrangements. Hence, we will only examine the common- emitter characteristics of the BJT. With the common-emitter, the emitter will be the common reference or the common ground to both the base and the collector terminals.
