1. Associates shall mark confidential documents they create or receive with a mark indicating its secrecy category, as defined in this Policy and illustrated in its Appendix. If necessary, they may use an equivalent mark (for example, a stamp reading “Confidential” may be appropriate for documents transmitted to business partners).
2. A secrecy marking may be omitted at the discretion of the manager who designated the secrecy category, if marking is inappropriate. Where a mark is omitted, the confidential nature of the document will be communicated to the recipient.
