The purposes of this research were to (1) investigate the effectiveness of
Computer-assisted Language Learning (CALL) in enhancing the English listening and
speaking skills of the students and (2) to find out the motivation of the students
through CALL. The target group was a class of twenty Matthayom Saksa 4 students
in the first semester of the 2011 academic year at Samakkhiwitthayakhom School,
Chiang Rai. The instructional instruments were divided into two categories (1) the
lesson plans based on CALL and (2) CALL materials selected from the English
Discoveries Program: Basic 1 and the students’ assignments to be posted on the
weblog. The data collection instruments were the pre-test and post-test and the
motivation questionnaire. The data analysis instruments were means, standard
deviations and the t-test value with the 0.05 level of significance. It was found that
the result of the t-test was 0.0098. The mean score of the speaking and listening
pre-test was 27.73 and that of the post-test was 47.60. The standard deviation of the
pre-test was 6.04 and that of the post-test was 5.41. Therefore, it is concluded that
CALL is effective for enhancing the English listening and speaking skills of
Mathayom Suksa 4 students at Samakkhiwitthayakhom School and they have a very
good motivation through CALL
