Tourist : I know that you’re not from wad tasudhavas . But do you have any idea how to make this doll ?
T.G. : as far as I have studied and seen with my own eyes, I understand that they have to prepare some kind of clay for the molding of the doll-shapes. The proper clay must be light brown, without undesirable mixture of dust, sand, or any small pieces of the powdered-paper is 3:1. Then the clay, mixed with powdered-paper, is wrapped in a damp piece of cloth, and this is wrapped in another layer of banana leaves.
Tourist : after that you begin to mold the clay into a shape ?
T.G. : that’s right. First , they mold the doll in a big size and gradually reduce it to the size of the doll they want to make. Now the process is not as difficult as it used to be. They have a mold especially for the head, which is the most difficult
Tourist : what would you think if we had to earn our living by making “ tukta chao wang”! I think that I wouldn’t make any money because it’s too delicate for me to handle.
T.G. : I don’t imaging that I would, either.
Tourist : this store is so spacious and the displays are very impressive. It seeme to me that the store really has a large collection of thaisouvenirs.
T.G, : it certainly does. This is the new location of the narayaphand pavilion. The displays and the decorations are particularly designed to attract the attention of both tourists and local shoppers. As you may notice, the store is situated among other well-known shopping centres . The store houses handicraft goods from all parts of the country. So it seems to have everything for everyone.
