The dissimilar materials selected for the overall study
included AISI 316L grade austenitic stainless steel and
DIN EN 10130-99 (7114 grade) IF steel. Weldability of
these steels has been studied by the constant electrode force
and the primary welding parameters affecting the heat
input such as peak current. All of materials were joined
in constant welding time. The influences of peak weld current
on the weld quality such as surface roughness, weld
size, strength and ductility were evaluated. Therefore, the
morphology, hardness, and tensile shear load bearing
capacity of weldment were investigated so the weldability
of austenitic and interstitial free steel dissimilar materials
was determined.
