lens Design for illumination of led using non-imaging optics method
The lens design for light emitting diode(LED) was widely use in lighting engineering.
The design achievement was based on non-imaging optics method by using a numerical simulation of optical ray tracing.
In our research, we were able to design the lens in three dimensions and simulated incident rays to state profiles and illumination on a target area.
The LED source was generated from a hemisphere which had a certain size for checking the possibility of light characteristics from the lens design.
The illumination of the incident rays on the target area were calculated from the interference of light.
We applied lens array to manipulate the light direction to increase illumination effectively.
Three different types of materials of Poly Methyl Methacrylate(PMMA),Polystyrene(PS)and Polycarbonate(PC)as the lens materials had been investigated.
If use found that the PMMA could provide the highest efficiency.
In recent years, LEDs have been involved in many
important ways in lighting engineering, such as desk lamps,
street lamps and vehicle lamps which require energy
conservation, long-life operation and high efficiency
illumination. Before we conducted our research, there
been some research teams who designed effi
lamps. Ching-Cherng Sun et al. could design a LEDs lens
simulation and their packaging
