As a teacher I feel so bad for these sweet children. They have good hearts and are friendly, but the work load and pace at SISB is just too extreme. I think it would be too extreme for university students, but we are talking about primary and secondary kids. Students simply don't do their homework in non-core subjects like Art and Social Studies. They have so much math, science, and English homework that they don't finish until 9 pm every night. They are herded from class to class with literally no break in between. They are fatigued, dehydrated, and tired all day. There are no real standards in this school, because teachers simply can't enforce them. The typical parent is a rich absentee father, letting nannies and maids raise their children. Where the nannies fail, SISB teachers are expected to pick up the slack. Between the lack of parenting, and school-induced ultra high stress levels, it's no wonder so many of the students have chronic mental problems. In one class you have 2 students with selective mutism, 1 with chronic violent anger episodes, 3 with ADHD, 2 with antisocial disorder, 3 unable to understand what the teacher is saying on even a rudimentary level, 2 morbidly obese and a diagnosed psychopath. These are facts people. Now on to the teachers. They are so over-burdened with menial manual-labor type duties that they simply do not have time to grade student's work or provide feedback. They are given taskings on a weekly, sometimes daily basis; and often just minutes prior to said task. The teachers are well qualified and well screened, but in practice that doesn't mean anything because the best teacher in the world is going to fail when all his free time is spent directing traffic outside the school. SISB could possibly be the worst school in Thailand. Did I forget to mention it is absurdly expensive? Yet at the same time they only have one broken printer for the whole teaching staff...
