Each facility must establish a system to effectively manage injuries and illnesses. This system should include elements such as primary medical treatment, follow-up with physicians, referrals to specialists and rehabilitation, when necessary. The facility should have a Workers’ Compensation Coordinator who reviews all open cases on a regular basis to reduce lost workdays and expenses. All employees need to be instructed on the basic provisions of the state W/C law and fundamentals of case management. The Third Party Administrator needs to conduct regular meetings with the site WC Coordinator to review the status of the WC program and losses.
