In conclusion, this study demonstrated effects of temperature on
pollen tube growth in interspecific crosses between melon and wild
Cucumis spp. Pollen–pistil incongruity in these interspecific crosses
can be alleviated under higher-temperature conditions. Moreover,
this condition increased the fruit set frequency. Therefore, highertemperature
conditions might be useful for producing interspecific
hybrids if post-zygotic barriers are overcome.
