Dear Poppy,
Many thanks for your e mail.First question, why didn't your friend go to China himself?I looked at the products but wouldn't have a clue what would sell. You were very lucky to find someone to allow you to use their luggage allowance. In fact I am surprised you did, as he didn't know you! what if you were a drug smuggler, which of course I know you aren't, but the authorities all warn people not to do that.
Is it right your brother went to jail?
I have a much more boring life than you, but I wouldn't want the uncertainty of constantly not knowing where I am going to be.
You mention you don't want to drive to the monastery, so why don't you just say that you don't want to go?Decide where you want to go yourself.
I am helping a student this evening with an assignment discussing double wishbone suspension on Formula 1 racing cars. Very technical! But I am proof reading his work.
I went to my Mum's place for a few days. She is managing well in the nursing home.I borrowed my friend's car and drove there, although I often go on the coach.
Tomorrow I am going with my polish friend firstly to an auction house to take photographs of some tribal art, carvings which she recently inherited from a New Zealand friend.Probably Maori. They will assist in valuing them and suggest when to sell them.Maybe a specialist sale, then we are going to The Jewellery area to try and sell some solid silver cutlery: knives, forks and spoons.
I am checking the scrap value, as many old silver sets are not popular these days, and therefore are melted down. They were going to be sent to charity until I was asked to look at them and identified them as being solid silver.
There is a new film out called Mr Turner starring TImothy spall which I want to see.it is about J W
M Turner a famous English 19th century artist. The actor spent nearly 2 years actually learning to paint to prepare for the role.I went to see a Polish film recently with my Polish friend about the surgeon who performed the first heart transplants in Poland. It was in Polish with English sub-titles.
Some of the scenes were very Graphic, showing them opening the chest and removing the heart.I had to hide behind my hand:)
Ok Poppy better get back to work.
Take care there
Colin
