Varieties were grown using conventional cultural
practices at the experimental farm of Seoul National University, Suwon,
in 2006. In addition, 32japonicabreeding lines along with three check
varieties grown in a regional yield trial plot in 2007 at NICS were also used for validation of the marker set developed in this study.
For physicochemical analysis, rice grains were dried to 15% moisture content.
All rice varieties and lines were grown in a light- and temperature-controlled greenhouse until the tillering stage, at which point tissue was collected for DNA extraction.
Genomic DNA was extracted using the modified cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)
method based on the protocol of Murray and Thompson (16).
