Tom Cleverley was "on top of the world" following Villa's 1-0 win over West Ham.
The midfielder netted the only goal of the game in the 31st minute to mark a dominant opening half for Tim Sherwood's side.
It was the on-loan Man Utd man's third goal in as many matches as the claret and blues moved four points clear of the Barclays Premier League's bottom three.
The nature of the victory over Sam Allardyce's men was a contrast to the win over Everton a week ago and Cleverley believes the professional performance demonstrates Villa's versatility and ability to mix up their styles when necessary.
He said: "It's fantastic for me to score again and, most importantly, the last two have helped us win games.
"I'm just really happy to get on the score sheet.
"I'm hitting the box and I'm confident in front of goal. That was the third tap-in I've scored in my career!
"Credit to Jack Grealish who did fantastically well for the assist.
"I'm on top of the world. We've got that important win.
"Last week we showed our expansive side and this week we showed our nitty-gritty and solid defensive side in the second half and that's all credit to the whole team.
"We'ce got a Plan A and Plan B and I think that's really positive."
The weekend win means Villa have lost just one game in their previous six outings in all competitions.
Cleverley was quick to pay credit to manager Sherwood for his personal improvement - and the team's collective upturn in fortunes.
He added: "He's taken the shackles off a bit.
"He doesn't mind his midfielders flooding the box as long as Westy or Carlos are holding the middle of the pitch. That's brilliant for Fab and I!
"We're scoring goals - and we feel like we can gamble a bit more.
"When you play with a smile on your face you always play better.
"I feel like the formation really suits my style of play because I feel I can get wide and inside.
"Fab and I have both got the legs to do that so it's benefited me.
"The manager has got to be given credit for getting me where I've been in the last few weeks. I'm happy."
