Family functioning. Participants reported their level of family functioning using 9 items from the 12-item General Functioning Scale of the Family Assessment Device. To meet space limitations on the survey, we did not include similarly worded items for 3 of the items(e.g., we included "individuals are accepted for who they are" but did not include "we feel accepted for who we are").
