Never forcefully press the probe's tip against a hard surface as doing so can damage its micro-thermocouple sensor and cause inaccurate readings.
Bending the hollow probe shaft or unfolding it too far (more than 180 degrees) from the plastic housing can also cause damage.
Never use the probe to shift or turn food— as you would with a spatula or tongs tongs—as doing so can bend the probe shaft.
Always insert the probe into the thickest part of the food to confirm that the food has cooked thoroughly.
Always pull any food cooking inside of an oven out of the oven's interior before taking a temperature reading as the heat inside of the oven can damage the unit.
