Religion
The national religion in Thailand is Buddhism, although there are also a significant number of Muslims and small number of Christians too. It is really important to be respectful towards people of all religions in Thailand and you should always dress appropriately when entering any religious buildings, such as temple or shrines. Clothes such as bikinis, mini-skits, low cut tops and sleeveless T shirts, as well as any attire that might be considered dirty or unkempt are certainly not permitted. If you visit a temple wearing any of the clothing mentioned, you will be asked to cover up and could be given and sarong of long sleeved shirt to wear. At some of the larger temples or palaces you could actually be asked to leave if you clothing is deemed to be inappropriate.
