And indeed, our judgments in these cases would be at least partly based on, or reflected in, the kind of indicators that various proposed social standards highlight---including, for example, charitable donations, various measures of employee satisfaction and loyalty, perceptions in the community, and so on. But this is still a long way from saying that we have any kind of systematic way of totting up the social pros and cons, or of arriving at some global figure for a firm's social performance.
