The degree of decolorization of the dyes was determined
spectrophotometrically in the clear supernatants
of cultures grown aerobically, anaerobically and microaerophilically
after being centrifuged at 6000 rpm for 10
min. Results were corrected according to blank (dyefree)
samples. Non-inoculated sterile control bottles,
which contained only the dye-free synthetic medium was
used as blank (control) and were incubated at 35 8C in
order to detect the absorbance of dye-free medium.
Decolorization efficiencies were calculated from absorbance
measurements and curves plotted between dye
concentrations and absorbance values
