At the residential weekend I noticed a critical incident, which came as a surprise to me. It happened during the “Minefield” task, which was nonverbal communication in order to complete a task.
This task was move through the maze by following the facilitator’s whistle.
At first, I was confused about what I had to do.
Then, some members showed me how to be done. After I worked out how to achieve it, I always pointed the way to pass through maze for others.
There was no one in my team who helped me in giving the correct direction to the others. At the end of the task, we were sharing our feedback, and almost all the people said that “I was everywhere” trying to help them.
Another team member stated that I was a leader in the performance of this task because of giving direction. In addition, the facilitator highlighted my ability in relation to my leadership also.
On the other hand, they said that I should express my ideas more.
I did not realise I was taking this role in the game in the place of the named leader. This comment leads me to think that I might be good in plant.
I started to understand myself and my need to demonstrate my views to other members more.
