4. Conclusion
The electro-activity of entacapone on HMDE was established
and studied for the first time. The electrochemical reduction of
entacapone under the conditions described in this work is an irreversible
process controlled by adsorption. In these methods, high
percentage of recovery shows that the compound is completely
extracted from tablet formulations and the results indicate that
the developed method can be used to quantify entacapone without
interference from other ingredients. The developed method
with detection limit of 0.13 ngmL−1 is more sensitive to already
reported spectroscopic method [8] and chromatographic method
(10g/mL) [10] for determination in pharmaceutical dosage form.
Thus, because of its inherent sensitivity and accuracy, the adsorptive
voltammetric method may be an effective alternative to the
other procedure.
