Systems thinking
When course members were asked whether there were any linkages between the first four disciplines the following words were used: "commitment, discussion, team learning and the sharing of knowledge These words were identified as being linked to exemplify all aspects of a "learning otganization" and also of individual learning needs. It was agreed that there would need to be a tenuous transition requiring individuals to change and to contribute to change in which there would organizational that team learning be an acknowledgement is central to systemic thinking. It was thought that through team learning, a shared vision, the surfacing of mental models and personal mastery could be achieved. Discussion around the disciplines resulted in emphasis being placed on the last-systems thinking which was interpreted as an evolving and fluid situation. In terms of barriers to achievement of systems thinking "laziness and the apathy of others" were identified. It was further suggested by this group of middle managers that there was a need for more "exposure to alternative ideas" around the concept.
