The aim of ACHIEVE is to contribute to practical and structural solutions for reduction of fuel poverty in Europe.
ACHIEVE is expected to result in:
Improve comfort and living conditions
Changing energy using behaviour, introducing energy efficiency measures and develop an energy management culture at the individual level
Reducing overall energy consumption and bills, and the risk of energy poverty in target households
Saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions in each household benefitting from a visit
Developing competences and job opportunities for those energy advisors carrying out the visits, and hence removing barriers to employment
The strategic objectives of this action are the following:
Improve health and well being for households facing fuel poverty,
Link dispersed local actors into a EU wide concerted effort to eliminate fuel poverty, through common understanding, communication and networking,
Reduce social exclusion and marginalisation of the households that suffer fuel poverty
Develop a methodological and economical concept for addressing energy poverty at the European level
ACHIEVE will do this by identifying and mobilising new groups of people (such as students and the long term unemployed), and support them in carrying out a large scale campaign of home visits to households who have hitherto not had access to help and support. As such it will result in changing behaviour and introducing energy efficiency measures to the homes and reducing overall energy consumption and energy poverty.
The final steps will be to find solutions to launch genuine consideration of the building scale when thermal improvement works are needed: by connecting better tenants and landlords, informing, motivating and orientating them with easy to understand and tailored documents and methods.
