The MIC will be improving the quality of medical services by sharing medical information, and digitizing medical treatment and examination data in order to enhance the Basic Diagnosis Information Utilization System. Moreover, as a means to innovate medical insurance matters, it will increase the number of medical institutions implementing medical insurance EDI from 5,461 in 1998 to fifty thousand by the end of 2001. The Ministry will carry out plans to develop and disseminate remote medical services to those who may be neglected by the current medical provision system, such as the disabled, the aged, and people living in inaccessible areas.
