Methodology
As mentioned above, the population under study corresponds to the Spanish and Belgian packaging/bottling industries. Information was gathered via a postal survey by means of a questionnaire elaborated by the research team. This test was tested on a small sample of the industry under study before the mass mailing.
The study focused specifically on two sectors with clearly differentiated activities: firstly, the food sector, which employs glass jars in many of its subsector activities, given the particular characteristics that these have that make them ideal carriers for foodstuffs; and secondly, the drinks sector, which is a major driving force in the use of glass bottles. This is
a sector in which more and more requisites are being incorporated as regards bottles (more attractive designs for customers are being called for, as well as more differentiated designs from those of competitors and more resistant but lighter products).
